Matt Rhule will reportedly have some experience at quarterback during his first season at Baylor.

According to multiple reports Baylor has landed a commitment from Anu Solomon. Solomon announced plans to leave Arizona as a graduate transfer last month. If the move comes to fruition, Solomon would be eligible to suit up immediately for the Bears.

Solomon was Arizona’s starter to open the last three seasons, but has dealt with a variety of injuries throughout his career. He threw for 6,922 yards, 49 touchdowns and 16 interceptions altogether at Arizona, but a knee injury limited him to just five games in 2016. He totaled 462 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions while being sacked 12 times for the 3-9 Wildcats.

Solomon led the Wildcats to the Pac-12 title game as a redshirt freshman, throwing for 3,793 yards, 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His completion percentage rose from 58 percent in 2014 to 62.1 percent in 2015 and he registered 2,667 yards, 20 touchdowns and five picks.

The addition would be a significant one for the Bears, who hired Rhule away from Temple last month. As of now, Zach Smith, who just finished his freshman season, is the only scholarship quarterback on Baylor’s roster. He became the team’s starter after senior Seth Russell went down with an ankle injury. Smith started Baylor’s final four games, including the Cactus Bowl win over Boise State, and finished the season with 1,526 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Smith became the team’s No. 2 quarterback almost by default after Jarrett Stidham opted to transfer in the fallout from the removal of head coach Art Briles. Stidham has since landed at Auburn.

Smith and Solomon would presumably battle for the starting role in 2017.

Additionally, Baylor picked up a commitment from three-star quarterback Charlie Brewer. Brewer, a product of Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, flipped his commitment from SMU.

Brewer was Rhule’s second commitment since he landed the job in early December. Baylor now has a total of eight commitments in its 2017 class, seven of which pledged after Rhule was hired.
