Even the cast of 'Hamilton' celebrated the Cubs' World Series victory

The celebration for the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series has obviously taken over Chicago. But it’s not just in bars or in homes or on the streets with fellow fans. It even took over a theater where a musical was being performed.

That musical? “Hamilton,” of course. The Tony-winning Broadway musical has a Chicago production now, and after Thursday’s show they flew the W and sang the Cubs anthem, “Go, Cubs, Go.”

So, a few things about this performance. It’s hilarious to see this song being performed not by people in Cubs gear, but by people in 18th century clothes. Has “Go, Cubs, Go” ever been sung by a guy in a waist coat, breeches, stockings and a neck ruffle? (You know, it probably has at some point. I won’t contemplate why.)

Also, the song sounds really good when performed in a theater with professional musicians. The “Hamilton” orchestra accompanied the cast, who encouraged the entire audience to singalong. The actor who plays Aaron Burr had a stirring solo, and several production members were holding W flags and waving them from various parts of the set. One of the backstage guys even danced his way across the stage wearing a Cubs hat and jersey.

You know your celebration has hit the big time when “Hamilton” gets involved. So don’t stop now, Chicago! Celebrate your brains out!
