Evangelista Cyborg Suffers Fractured Skull from Michael Page's Flying Knee

Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos not only lost his Bellator 158 bout to Michael “Venom” Page on Saturday in London, he also suffered a fractured skull that will require surgery.

Santos' ex-wife, Cris “Cyborg” Justino posted about his injury on social media, and then Santos himself verified the injury and the need for surgery to MMAFighting.com.

“Fight fans, please say a prayer for me ex-husband Cyborg Santos. Many of you watched him fight on Spike TV this weekend when he suffered this injury, while fighting in London,” Justino said when posting a picture of Santos and the fracture on Instagram. “Cyborg is still in the hospital in the UK, and they are not sure when he will be able to fly again. He has not had surgery yet and there is worry the brain can continue to swell causing more damage.”

Page took Santos out late in the second round of their fight at the O2 Arena, sending him crashing to the canvas with a flying knee to the forehead. Santos immediately covered up, bringing an end to the fight. He was later transported to an area hospital.

“I’m under observation now, and will have surgery in the United States,” Santos told MMAFighting. “I had a serious injury, but Bellator is giving me all the support I need.”

Justino noted in her Instagram post that Bellator would be covering Santos' medical expenses, but said that a GoFundMe page was in the planning stages to help Santos with expenses during his recovery.
