France’s status as Euro 2020 favorites keeps getting stronger.

France beat Germany 1-0 to open the group stage on Tuesday and now has odds to win the entire tournament at just +325 at BetMGM. The 2018 World Cup champions opened at +550 to win the tournament and have seen their odds steadily get better and better.

The only goal France scored against Germany came via an own goal in the first half but France scored two goals in the second half that were called back on close offsides calls.

A bettor did make a significant wager on France before their odds dipped below +400. Someone wagered $10,000 at BetMGM on France to win at +400. That’s a $40,000 return if France wins.

Nearly 25% of the tickets at BetMGM are on France while close to 40% of the handle — the total money wagered — is on France thanks to that $10,000 bet.

"Every team has played one game in the Euro 2020 tournament. France’s odds continue to improve and the team is now +325 to win after defeating Germany. France is the most bet team and BetMGM’s biggest liability.” BetMGM's Darren Darby said.

Italy and Portugal have also seen their odds go down after convincing wins to open group stage play. Italy opened at +1200 to win the tournament and is now at +600 to win after beating Turkey 3-0 to start the Euros. Portugal, the Euro 2016 winner, is now at +700 from +1000 after beating Hungary 3-0 on Tuesday.

Portugal is in the same group as Germany and France. All three teams could advance to the knockout rounds as four of the six third-place teams in the group stage will advance to the Round of 16. France and Portugal are well-positioned to do so after their opening wins while Germany will need a win and a tie against Portugal and Hungary to be assured of advancing into the knockout rounds.
