Edinson Cavani had a hilariously terrible soccer game

You know of Edinson Cavani — whose friends perhaps just call him Eddie, we’re not sure. He’s a Paris Saint-Germain star and before that he was a Napoli star. And all along, the striker, who looks a little bit like a Soccer Jesus, has been a Uruguay star, anchoring its golden generation’s front line.

While he has always played up front with Luis Suarez for his country, Eddie was retooled as a left winger of sorts for PSG in its three-front after arriving from Naples. Playing in the middle, after all, was Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and nobody displaces the Zlatan — or the 50 goals he scored last season before leaving for Manchester United. It didn’t matter that Eddie had scored 78 league goals in the defensively stingy Serie A in just three seasons.

This year, with the big Swede gone, Eddie is back in the middle for his club. And while he was certainly productive out on the flank, scoring 16, 18 and 19 league goals, respectively, he’ll be relied upon to carry a heavier scoring load.

The adjustment, however, has not been so smooth. Eddie has always been sort of howler-prone, but he had a series of particular shockers against Metz on Sunday.

Behold.

PSG won 3-0 anyway, of course, because they could probably dominate Ligue 1 with their under-12 team at this point. But the moneyed Parisians may have to look into their striker situation if they want to finally win the Champions League this year.
