Eden Hazard has joked that a new contract could prevent Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Antonio Conte to keen to bring the Everton striker back to Stamford Bridge, having left permanently in deal worth £28 million three years ago.

Standard Sport understands Lukaku has refused to sign a new contract at Goodison Park as he looks to engineer an exit, with a move to London his preference amid interest from Manchester United.

Hazard, who plays with Lukaku with the Belgium national team, is open to extending his own stay with Chelsea with talks planned for after international duty in June.

"At this moment, there's nothing on the table. We're waiting for the end of the season," he told Het Nieuwsblad of contract talks. I'm still calm. We will talk. If not, then we'll see."

He added: "If I sign a new contract, There may not be enough money left to get Romelu! No, I'm kidding. Whoever comes, we will be ready for the new season."

When asked if he could be tempted to leave Chelsea, Hazard replied: "I don't know, I'm happy at the club. When I'm back from the national team, we'll have time to talk and see what's possible."
