Eddie Wineland vs. Johnny Eduardo Added to UFC Fight Night 40 Card in Cincinnati

The Ultimate Fighting Championship recently announced a UFC Fight Night event for May 10 in Cincinnati, and the fight card is filling up fast.

UFC officials on Wednesday added a bantamweight bout between Eddie Wineland and Johnny Eduardo.

Wineland (21-9-1) is just one fight removed from his shot at the interim UFC bantamweight championship. He lost his bid for a belt when Renan Barão TKO’d him at UFC 165 last September.

Wineland rebounded at UFC on Fox 10 with a TKO stoppage of his own in a fight with Yves Jabouin.

Eduardo (26-9) is just 1-1 in the Octagon, but his loss to Raphael Assuncao at UFC 134 was the only blemish in his last 13 bouts.

He rebounded from the loss to Assuncao with a unanimous-decision victory over Jeff Curran in May of 2012. Eduardo has been scheduled to fight several times since defeating Curran, but various injuries have derailed his return to the Octagon.

Eddie Wineland vs. Johnny Eduardo will be part of the UFC Fight Night 40 card on May 10 at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. A headlining bout for the event has yet to be announced.
