Ed Sheeran lost 4 stone over trolling and 'Two Dinners Teddy' jibes

Ed Sheeran has revealed he lost four stone after being targeted by trolls who labelled him fat - admitting even his friends used to call him “Two Dinners Teddy”.

The Shape of You singer said that his weight was down to a poor lifestyle of fatty foods, drinking, and no exercise.

But he reckons he’s dropped from 16 to 12 stone by swapping beer for vodka and taking up running and cycling to stay in shape.

Sheeran told the marathon running-themed Behind the Medal podcast: “My problem was I’d go to the pub, have bangers and mash, a pie, maybe a pudding and then loads of pints. And then not exercise.

“My friends used to call me Two Dinners Teddy. On tour, it’s very easy to drink every single day because there’s always someone visiting.

“I had to make a real effort on the tour. I’m 12 stone now. I started running. I’ve got into cycling as well.”

However, he did add that he thought anyone pointing out insecurities in others was probably quite insecure to do so.

Sheeran speculated that a lot of the online trolls who had called him fat may well have weight problems themselves.

His dramatic weight loss has had the effect of making him keener to appear in his own videos, which he avoided for his first few hits, explaining that his peers were One Direction and Justin Bieber who all had six packs.

Fans of the singer can see him alongside his wife Cherry Seaborn in the video for his new song, Put it All on Me, a collaboration with Ella Mai.

Sheeran has previously explained that he quit Twitter because he was being brought down by comments from trolls every time he looked at the social media site.

In 2017 he told The Sun: "I've actually come off Twitter completely. I can't read it.

"I go on it and there's nothing but people saying mean things. One comment ruins your day. But that's why I've come off it."
