Yahoo Sports Eagles Pro Bowler Lane Johnson says he tested positive for COVID-19
Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson is among the latest wave of players to test positive for the coronavirus, he announced via Twitter on Wednesday.
Johnson was among three Eagles players placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, alongside linebacker Nate Gerry and offensive tackle Jordan Mailata.

The reserve/COVID-19 was created by the NFL as a landing spot for players who either test positive for COVID-19 or who have been quarantined after close contact with an infected person. Johnson’s announcement confirms he is in the former group.
Johnson’s diagnosis adds another complication for an Eagles offensive line that was already replacing Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Brooks with longtime left tackle Jason Peters after Brooks tore his Achilles tendon. A former fourth overall pick, Johnson has made the last three Pro Bowls and recently signed a record four-year, $72 million extension with the Eagles.
Johnson recently been part of an “OL Masterminds Summit” that had received criticism after videos showed several players in close quarters without masks. Johnson goes out of his way in his statement to note he tested negative for the coronavirus following the summit.
NFL players starting to show effects of COVID-19
Johnson is one of many players to land on the reserve/COVID-19 list as NFL training camps begin following the league’s agreement with the NFLPA on how to handle the virus this season.
Several more players have opted out of the 2020 season, the most prominent of which might be New York Giants veteran Nate Solder.
