Eagles center Jason Kelce will play the saxophone next week with Philadelphia orchestra

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Jason Kelce plays the saxophone. Yes, actually. And if you want proof, you can go watch the Philadelphia Eagles center at the Mann Center on July 24 in Philadelphia.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Kelce has played in the instrument since the fourth grade. And while he may have played football on Friday nights, part of his heart laid in the bands that played beside the game. As he entered high school, he played in the jazz and symphonic band ensembles.

Next Tuesday is not the first time Kelce will play live, though.

Weeks after the Eagles won the Super Bowl, he played with students from the Cleveland Heights High School Band — his alma mater. This time, Kelce will be playing alongside the Philadelphia orchestra.

In months past, Kelce has spoken about what music has meant to him.

“Music was a big part of my childhood,” he said in April ahead of the All-City Jazz Festival concert at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, “and it helped shape me into the person I am today and helped make me, believe it or not, into a better football player and a better overall person. I firmly believe that.”

A portion of the proceeds from tickets sold to Tuesday’s event will be donated to programs sponsored by the Mann Center and the Eagles Autism Challenge, according to the Inquirer.
