Yahoo Sports Donald Trump Jr. says 'View' hosts 'tried to smear me': 'They were totally triggered'
Donald Trump Jr.’s feud with the stars of The View is still going strong.
On Nov. 7, the first son appeared on the show’s 5,000th episode alongside girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle to promote his new book, Triggered. But the interview soon turned explosive as Trump accused co-host Joy Behar of wearing blackface in the past and hit out at Whoopi Goldberg’s 2009 remarks about Roman Polanski’s rape scandal. He also sparred with Sunny Hostin over his tweet naming the whistleblower who sparked the investigation at the center of President Trump’s impeachment inquiry, a beef that has spilled over into Twitter.
On Sunday, Trump joined The CATS Roundtable podcast to break down his experience on The View, saying it was “about time” someone got the better of the show’s hosts. He also told podcast host John Catsimatidis that he was disappointed that his book didn’t come up in the conversation.
“I’m not naive, I’m not a little kid,” he said. “I know they’re going to bring up other stuff. I know they’re going to be rough. I know they’re going to be vicious, but if I say, ‘Hey, it’s OK, I’ll do three entire segments on the show,’ I don’t think it’s too much to ask to expect them to actually talk about the book once. To actually ask me a question about the book, just once.”

He went on to accuse the panel — co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Meghan McCain, Sunny Hostin and Abby Huntsman — of trying to “smear” him and “besmirch” the president.
“You could see very quickly they went aggressive fast,” Trump said. “They tried to smear me, to try to besmirch my father and my family.”
“You know what? It doesn’t work too well with us. We will actually fight back, unlike a lot of the conservatives out there … You can only go so far before I’ve had enough.”
He also accused the women of getting defensive when he accused them of “hypocrisy.”
“They were totally triggered,” he continued. “You could see they lost their minds.
“There is that double standard in the media. ‘We’re terrible for this.’ Well what about blackface, Joy?”
The president’s oldest child echoed his complaints about Behar and Goldberg, adding “I’m only playing by their rules.
“They have made everything off-limits for certain people except them. But when you throw that back in their face they don’t handle it too well as you can tell.”
