The hot rumor for the past couple weeks has been that the UFC is working to put Donald “Cowboy” Corrine in the Octagon with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 187 on Memorial Day weekend.

For his part, Cerrone said on Saturday night that he had signed to fight.

“I signed a contract, yes,” he confirmed, although he wouldn't say whom he would be fighting and didn't know if his opponent had signed his bout agreement yet.

When asked specifically if he had signed to face Nurmagomedov, Cerrone was elusive.

“I don't know who it might be, but there aren't a whole lot of other guys at the top of the ladder left,” he said, before admitting that he would “absolutely” like to fight his Russian counterpart.

“Fighting Khabib would be a No. 1 contender (fight),” he said. And at this point in his career, Cerrone wants to make a run at the belt, hopefully bringing a title fight to Denver on the UFC's next trip tot he Mile High City.

“(Denver) is a fight I'd hold out for,” said Cerrone, who will fight just about anyone, at any time, and anywhere.

First, however, we're awaiting confirmation that the fight with Nurmagomedov is official.
