Dolphins place PK Carpenter on I.R., sign PK Kaeding

The Dolphins placed PK Dan Carpenter on injured reserve and signed former Chargers PK Nate Kaeding.

Carpenter, who has a groin injury, made 22-of-27 field-goal attempts this season with a long of 53 yards. Thirty of his 65 kickoffs went for touchbacks.

Kaeding played in the first three games of the 2012 season with San Diego, converting all seven of his field-goal tries, before being placed on I.R. with a groin injury. The Chargers eventually waived him off the reserve list.
