Dolphins hire front office, security staff post-bullying scandal

A few months after the NFL's Miami Dolphins bullying investigation concluded, the organization has announced three hires that would appear to be directly related.

The Dolphins hired Dan Caspersen to lead the human resources department and Joe Cicini to oversee the organization's security team. Brandon Shore will also assist Caspersen in human resources.

Casepersen was previously the Executive Vice President, Human Resources at Toys 'R' Us from 2006-2013. Cicini joins the Dolphins after working with the FBI for 23 years.

“Dan and Joe are world-class professionals and individuals,” said Miami Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel in a statement. “We are all committed at this organization to providing a productive and respectful work environment, as well as ensuring the safety and security of all of our employees and fans. Dan will lead our effort to create a strategic human resources department designed to drive performance and a consistent culture and value structure throughout the organization. Joe has an extensive law enforcement background with over two decades of experience that includes special event management, counter-terrorism, and crisis management.”

These moves will likely help the Dolphins put in place a plan for any employee that feels threatened or bullied in the workplace.

Last season, Richie Incognito was accused of bullying and harassing Jonathan Martin, who abruptly left the team midseason. After an investigation from attorney Ted Wells, Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey were deemed accountable for bullying not only Martin, but other players and employees with the Dolphins.
