Does NC or SC have better high school football? Our Carolinas Top 25 poll might answer
The Carolinas Top 25 poll returns for its second season, ranking the top high school football teams in North and South Carolina.
The poll will appear online and in print editions of multiple McClatchy-owned media companies across the Carolinas.
In the first poll, North Carolina has 15 teams ranked, and South Carolina has 10.
Providence Day, which finished first in last season’s final poll, starts in the top spot, ahead of Weddington.
That means the two top teams in the Carolinas will meet Thursday night at 8 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
South Carolina had three of the poll’s top five teams with No. 3 Gaffney, No. 4 Dutch Fork and No. 5 Summerville being next in line after the two Charlotte-area teams.
