The football career of Purdue defensive lineman Jake Replogle appears to be over.

Replogle issued a statement to Purdue Rivals site BlackandGold.com and said he was removing his name from availability in the 2017 NFL draft. He was a senior in 2016.

“It has been an honor to represent Purdue University these past four years. I am extremely thankful for the support of my family, teammates, coaches, fans and everyone in Purdue nation. As for my future, I’ve decided to pursue a career in business, putting my degree to good use and look to advance my education hopefully in the not too distant future. I will not be involved in the upcoming NFL draft. I will forever be thankful for the opportunities that football has provided me and am eager to apply the lessons that football has taught me going forward. Boiler up! Hail Purdue!”

Replogle was one of Purdue’s best defensive players in 2016. He had 48 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss in eight games after playing in all 12 games in each of the past two seasons. He missed those four games because of an apparent head injury he suffered in a win over Illinois and described the headaches and “pressure” he had been feeling.

“My head doesn’t feel right,” Replogle said in October about his injury. “There’s not much you can do other than rest it. So obviously they’re not going to put me out there if it’s not feeling right. But they’re doing everything they can to help me.”

Replogle had 60 tackles and 14 tackles for loss in 2015 and 41 tackles and 11 tackles for loss as a sophomore in 2014.
