Did Taraji P. Henson just shade Ryan Seacrest on the 2018 Oscars red carpet?

All eyes were on Ryan Seacrest during E!'s Oscars red carpet coverage on Sunday night, and it was his interview with "Empire" actress Taraji P. Henson that was the first to go viral.

Seacrest, of course, was accused by a former E! stylist of sexual harassment, but the network opted to keep him at the helm of their Academy Awards coverage alongside Giuliana Rancic after its internal investigation found no evidence of misconduct.

Heading into Oscars, fans were curious to see whether or not the stars that Seacrest interviewed on the red carpet would mention or allude to the allegations and, though they weren't addressed directly, Henson appeared to shade Seacrest amid the scandal.

The actress, who was at the show to introduce double-nominee Mary J. Blige's performance, was praising the singer when she seemingly threw a subtle jab at Seacrest.

"The universe has a way of protecting the best people," she said. "Do you know what I mean?"

After uttering the remark, the outspoken star held an exaggerated smile amid prolonged eye contact with the "American Idol" host, and Twitter read the moment as a totally shady.
