'Detective Kristaps' is definitely the NBA season's No. 1 new show

With every Dirk-defying stepback, double-take-inducing crossover, monster throwdown and long-range bomb, Kristaps Porzingis becomes an even more beloved figure among New York Knicks fans. It’s difficult to imagine what might make hard-hearted New Yorkers love the 7-foot-3 Latvian unicorn even more … well, unless you’re Matt Hill.

If you’re the genius behind “Spurs Special Forces” and “Summer of J.R.,” you imagine Porzingis earning even more of New Yorkers’ trust and love as an animated crime-stopper, cracking cases and putting bad guys behind bars, in a bit of fried internet gold called “Detective Kristaps.” Behold:

If this doesn’t get a 13-episode order by the end of business today — or, failing that, at least a “Son of Zorn”-style animation/live-action crossover with Colin Quinn’s “Cop Show” — we riot.

Here’s hoping a future installment allows the precocious KP to delve into the mystery of why the Knicks have been so volatile and crummy over the years while the New York Rangers’ front office and results have been so consistently strong, despite being owned by the same part-time bluesman. If anyone can get to the bottom of that whodunit, it’s the man who turned weeping skeptics into jersey-rocking believers (and then snuffed them out for good measure) in no time flat.
