CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- Former North Carolina basketball star Diamond DeShields says she hasn't spoken to any schools about transferring, despite announcing last week she would leave the Tar Heels.
DeShields posted a statement Thursday on Twitter, addressing her decision to leave UNC. It came a week after coach Sylvia Hatchell announced her transfer. She didn't explain why she's leaving but says she met with Hatchell ''on several different occasions'' during the year.
She says their last conversation was ''very detailed and emotional'' but they're parting on good terms. Hatchell missed this season to receive treatment for leukemia, which is in remission.
DeShields says she won't speak to other schools until she finishes her classes at UNC.
The ACC freshman of the year set a league record for freshmen with 648 points.
