Derek Carr believes he's best QB in draft class

Derek Carr sure doesn't lack confidence.

The former Fresno State quarterback and NFL draft hopeful appeared on the television program NFL AM to talk about a variety of topics. One of the questions he received was whether he thought he was the best quarterback in this year's draft class.

Carr's response: "Absolutely."

"And I say that with respect to the other guys because they're great competitors and all those good things," Carr said. "And of course, it's not easy for me to answer a question like that but I absolutely think so. There's no doubt in my mind. And we can turn the film on, watch it and we'll talk about it."

Carr had a spectacular senior season, throwing for 5,082 yards and 50 touchdowns.

Carr is the younger brother of longtime NFL quarterback David Carr, who also played college football at Fresno State. The older Carr was taken by Houston with the first overall pick in the 2002 draft. Carr's career as a starter didn't pan out, though he's been a longtime backup.

The younger brother added that David Carr has helped him out tremendously while he waits to see which team will take him when the draft weekend hits.

"The best thing he has taught me is during this whole process, you're going to be praised and criticized. Ignore both because neither matter," Carr said.
