Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi Takes UFC 186 Main Event Slot

With TJ Dillashaw having to withdraw from his UFC 186 main event title defense against Renan Barao, UFC officials have opted to move Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi into the headlining slot.

It took officials little time to make the call, announcing that Johnson's flyweight title defense would take the main slot just hours after Dillashaw fell out of his scheduled bout. Johnson vs. Horiguchi was already the co-main event on the bill.

In moving the flyweight championship into the spotlight, UFC officials added that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson‘s return to the Octagon would move into the main support slot vacated by Johnson vs. Horiguchi. Rampage squares off with Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186.

The Rampage bout could also be in jeopardy, however, as Bellator has filed suit against the defecting fighter, asking a judge for an injunction to stop his return to the Octagon, while the legalities of him breaking his contract are sorted out.

But for now, the new-look UFC 186 features Johnson vs. Horiguchi and Rampage vs. Maldonado on April 25 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
