Delhi would vote for Imran Khan if he promises freebies: TV anchor

The Zee News anchor, Sudhir Chaudhary, made a shocking statement during a television programme on Tuesday, saying that Delhi would have voted for Imran Khan and his Tehreek-e-Insaf party had the Pakistan PM they promised them freebies.

Even as the results of Delhi elections were trickling in, Chaudhary appeared to be visibly rattled by the resounding victory of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

"Delhi voters would have voted even for Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and his party if he had offered them freebies. If Imran had told them that he would take care of their house and car EMIs, the Delhi voters would have lapped it up," he said.

A couple of days ago, when exit polls predicted an AAP sweep, Chaudhary called Delhi voters "lazy" and claimed that they don't care even if the country breaks up.

Chaudhary is perceived as someone who is close to the ruling dispensation at the Centre and often sides with the BJP on issues such as nationalism, Article 370, and the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act.
