Decision time for out-of-favour Barcelona star as La Liga rivals eye January loan move

Ansu Fati returned to FC Barcelona after a disappointing loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion but has endured another poor campaign thus far.

An injury during pre-season meant that the 22-year-old missed a good chunk of the start of the campaign and when he did return, the versatile forward failed to convince manager Hansi Flick and rack up regular minutes.

Now, Ansu has been sidelined with another injury and although he is expected to be back next week, his future at Barcelona beyond this month is a source of major speculation.

Sevilla keen on Fati’s loan signing, player must decide

Indeed, as per SPORT, Sevilla still maintain an interest in securing Ansu Fati’s services on a loan deal in the January transfer window, provided it is financially viable.

Their coach, Garcia Pimienta, is still eager to bring the Barcelona player on loan, confident that he can help him regain his best form. The manager had requested the player in the summer, but Ansu did not want to leave at that time.

However, he could now be open to the move, realising that it represents an opportunity and that Sevilla needs attacking reinforcements in order to improve their performance in the second half of the season.

The La Masia graduate is fully aware of his situation but has not yet shown any signs of wanting to leave in search of more playing time. The decision regarding his future has been postponed until he has fully recovered.

Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, visited Barcelona a few weeks ago, where the club made it clear that the forward would have limited playing time, but they would not force him to leave. However, the Blaugrana would welcome a move if that was the player’s wish.

The situation is complicated, but the operation could be successful if all parties are willing to compromise. The player would need to accept a partial salary reduction, Barcelona would contribute towards his wages, and Sevilla would need to make a clear commitment to him.

Everything depends on the decision Ansu makes, as if he stays at Barcelona, he will remain stuck without playing time.
