David Luiz praised Mikel Arteta’s influence on the Arsenal players as the Gunners put in an impressive and hardworking performance to beat Manchester United 2-0.
Some of the Arsenal players have appeared exhausted after both of Arsenal’s last two games and Luiz hinted that Arteta’s requirement to play high intensity football means that they are not “physically ready” to compete for 90 minutes.
In an honest post-match interview with BT Sport, David Luiz said: “In the second half, because we have to be honest and humble to admit physically we are not ready, we showed in the second half against Chelsea and again today that when physically you are not there you have to put your heart into it.
“This team is changing a lot of things. You can’t change 0 to 10 in one day, a week or a month, but it is beautiful to see how the kids are starting to understand the commitment and behaviour that they have to do every single day to achieve big things in life and football.
“I think we showed that today and we will do big things in the future, but step by step.”

When asked if the players are clearer in what their individual jobs are, Luiz was full of praise for new Arsenal boss Arteta.
The Brazilian continued: “To fight, we are ready, not with all the guns, but we are ready.
“I think Mikel is a great coach, he knows football, he was a great player. He brings things where I believe in his phisosophy and I think he can improve every single player.
“In life when you are happy, the results can be totally different. If you work with happiness and believing what you are doing it is totally different.
“We need to understand that we started the season very badly, we have to be honest. But things can change and there are still some titles to fight for and improvement for the team for the future.”
