Darqueze Dennard, Stephon Tuitt to visit the Steelers

In 2013, the Pittsburgh Steelers didn't field the kind of defense the organization has grown accustomed to.

Normally a top five unit, the Steelers' defense finished the year ranked 13th after giving up an average of 337.6 yards per game. It was an older group that will need to scale younger for the 2014 season.

Therefore, the Steelers' upcoming draft class could see some new faces on the defensive side of the ball. To prepare, the Steelers are bringing in two first-day caliber prospects for visits.

The Steelers announced that Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard and Notre Dame defensive end Stephon Tuitt will visit the team's complex on Wednesday.

Dennard is regarded as one of the top two cornerbacks in this draft class. A projected first-rounder, Dennard is a press-man coverage corner that plays physical each snap. He totaled 62 tackles and four interceptions during his senior season.

There is a strong likelihood that Dennard will be available when the Steelers pick at No. 15 overall.

Tuitt is projected to go in the first or second round by most media outlets. He's a big defensive lineman at 6-7, 322 pounds, which means he'd project well into a 3-4 defensive scheme.

As a junior, Tuitt tallied 48 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
