Dante signs Bayern extension until 2017

Bayern Munich on Monday announced that Dante has signed a new contract with the Bundesliga champions until the summer of 2017.

The Brazil international’s deal was due to expire in June 2016 and Manchester United was believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation at the Allianz Arena. Nevertheless, he has now ended speculation about his future by inking a one-year extension with Bayern.

"Joining Bayern was the best decision of my life," the 30-year-old said of his new deal. "Everything is good here, the club, the team, the trophies, the atmosphere. Bayern are the right club for me. That's why I am happy to stay here at least until 2017. I am confident that we will have plenty of success in the years to come."

Dante joined Bayern from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2012 and has since developed into a key player at the Bavarians. The center back has made 22 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, scoring twice.
