Dan Henderson Reveals His One Regret

Mixed martial arts pioneer and legend Dan Henderson plans to hang up his gloves after his rematch with Michael Bisping at UFC 204 on Oct. 8.

The 46-year-old Henderson, a former two-division Pride FC champion, wants to go out on a high note by repeating his UFC 100 performance and knocking out Bisping a second time.

His career resume speaks for itself, and is Hall of Fame worthy. But there’s one fighter’s absent name that he wishes were on there.

“The only one that really… Jon Jones,” he said.

Henderson was scheduled to face Jones in the UFC 151 main event on Sept. 1, 2012, but was forced out of the fight with an injury. The event was ultimately cancelled and Henderson never got his chance to face Jones.

“I trained to fight him, I was ready to fight him, and I got hurt and didn’t get the chance to test myself against him,” said Henderson. “That would have been a fun moment for me to see how I’d do against Jon Jones.”

Over the span of a fighting career that began in 1997, not getting to fight Jones is Henderson’s lone regret.
