Cowboys, Bears troll Raiders over Amari Cooper, Khalil Mack trades ahead of NFL draft

The Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears both traded away their first-round picks in this year’s NFL draft to the Oakland Raiders.

The Cowboys did so to land wide receiver Amari Cooper in October, while the Bears acquired linebacker Khalil Mack and signed him to a record-setting $141 million deal just before the season started.

While those moves could have led to some buyer’s remorse on draft day — the Cowboys and Bears, along with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, are without a first-round pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night — it doesn’t sound like that’s the case in either Dallas or Chicago.

The Cowboys shared a video on social media on Thursday afternoon where they asked Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones about what’s different with the draft this year without a first-round pick.

“When we get ready to pick, and the Raiders pick our pick, we’ll be watching Amari highlight tapes,” Stephen Jones said.

The Bears released a similar video on Thursday morning that was full of Mack highlights from the season.

Cooper had 725 yards on 53 receptions and six touchdowns in his nine games with the Cowboys this season, and Mack had 47 total tackles and one interception for a touchdown in 14 games for the Bears.

It’s probably safe to say that both the Cowboys and the Bears are more than happy with their decisions to trade away their first-rounders this season.

Jets, Giants troll each other on Twitter

The New York Jets moved up to the No. 3 pick in the draft last year to pick quarterback Sam Darnold.

However, many speculated that Darnold would have been picked No. 2 overall by the New York Giants, as he could have been the perfect backup and eventual replacement for Eli Manning.

Instead, the Giants went with Penn State running back Saquon Barkley.

So the Jets, ahead of the NFL draft on Thursday night, took a playful shot at their inner-city rivals on social media and thanked the Giants for picking Barkley instead of Darnold.

The Giants, though, fired back with a photo of Barkley holding the trophy for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
