Dallas Cowboys bolster defensive line in trade with Giants for DT Jordan Phillips

The Dallas Cowboys like the progress being made at nose tackle by 2023 first-round pick Mazi Smith.

But the depth at the position has long been a concern.

The Cowboys made a move to address to position Wednesday night by acquiring 11-year veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips from the New York Giants.

The two teams are swapping late round picks in 2026. The Cowboys will get a 2026 seventh round pick and the Giants will get a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Phillips, who played in college at Oklahoma, was a second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2015.

He played four season in Miami, then two with Buffalo Bills, two with the Arizona Cardinals and two more with the Bills before signing with the Giants this offseason.

He has 181 tackles and 24 sacks in his career.

His specialty in stopping the run and will likely rotate with Smith in Dallas.
