Dak Prescott misses practice Friday due to ankle soreness. Cowboys say it’s precautionary

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was held out of practice Friday due to ankle soreness, according to a team spokesman.

Prescott confirmed to the Star-Telegram that it was for precautionary reasons and he is not wearing a boot as he did in June when had some ankle swelling.

The soreness is to the same ankle Prescott injured in 2020 when he missed the final 11 games of the season after suffering compound fracture against the New York Giants, requiring two surgeries.

Prescott has not missed a game due to the ankle since returning in 2021. But he acknowledged it was something that he must deal with at times because of swelling.

Prescott participated fully in Thursday’s joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams and is not schedule to play in Sunday’s preseason opener at the Rams.
