Dabo Swinney is having a sports week that we can all envy
Life is really, really, really good for Clemson’s Dabo Swinney.
At the end of April, Swinney agreed to a 10-year, $93 million contract extension at Clemson that’s the biggest contract in college football coaching history. And now Swinney is on a bucket list-level tour of sporting events.
He started his week on Monday in St. Louis watching the Cardinals play the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cardinals won the game.
Tuesday, he was in Toronto for the Raptors’ playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Raptors won that game, and Swinney even got to play basketball on the court before the game.

Wednesday, Swinney double-dipped. He made an appearance at the stadium before the Milwaukee Brewers’ game against the Washington Nationals. The Brewers won that game. Yes, there’s a theme here.

Then Swinney left the baseball game and went to the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff game against the Boston Celtics. That Game 5 was the series clincher for the Bucks.

And then Thursday night Swinney was in Chicago for the Cubs game against the Miami Marlins. Yes, the Cubs won that game, too.

Swinney’s Clemson went undefeated in 2018 as the Tigers won the national title, so he’s on quite the sports run. Should he end it while he’s undefeated or keep going to other events until the home team loses? While bringing success to the home team is fun, Swinney should probably want to get a loss out of the way somewhere on this sports tour to avoid having his first sporting event loss in months come in a Clemson football game.
