RSC Anderlecht has been intrigued by D.C. United's Andy Najar during his training stint with the club over the past few weeks. Now, the club has a month to see if he would be a good fit.

Najar will join the Belgian champion on a month-long loan in January, teaming up with former MLS star Sacha Kljestan. Anderlecht resumes league play on Jan. 16 against Genk, and Najar will have three matches in which he can prove himself to head coach John van der Brom. United expects that the Honduran midfielder will return to D.C. after the loan spell.

“This is another very good opportunity for Andy to gain valuable experience with a top European club,” D.C. general manager Dave Kasper said in a team statement. “We look forward to his return for the second half of our preseason.”

Still, there is a possibility that Najar could end up securing a permanent move to Anderlecht. Van Der Brom has been impressed with the young player who can play anywhere on the right side of the field.

“Najar trained only twice, but fits here pretty quickly,” Van den Brom told Anderlecht-Online.com.

The European transfer deadline ends at the close of January, at which point Najar's loan will expire and MLS and Anderlecht would have to come to terms on a potential move.
