D.C. United and Branko Boskovic mutually agree to part ways

D.C. United has announced the club and midfielder Branko Boskovic have mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

“I have had some private family matters for several months now,” said Boskovic. “It’s a difficult decision for me after a very good season here. I think that we will get better and better, but now I must leave. I wish all the best to this team and this club. This city is going to be my heart in the future.”

Boskovic originally signed with United as a Designated Player in June 2010. The Montenegrin midfielder suffered a torn ACL early in the 2011 season, wiping out the rest of his campaign. He returned in 2012 to record one goal and seven assists in 26 regular-season games (12 starts) before starting all four playoff matches.

"It's important that Branko return to Europe to be with his family at this time and thus we are mutually terminating his contract,” said general manager Dave Kasper.

“We thank Branko for all of his efforts with United, including some wonderful performances this year that helped us achieve post-season play. We wish Branko all the best in his future endeavors.”

Overall in his time with the team, the 32-year-old made 43 appearances (21 games started) over the course of three seasons, scoring two goals and assisting on seven.
