Cowboys' rookies lead Brady, everyone else in Pro Bowl voting

The Year Of the Cowboys rolls on. The NFL has announced ongoing vote totals for the Pro Bowl, and you’ll never guess who’s at the top of the list for 2016.

Cowboys rookies Ezekiel Elliott (681,361 votes) and Dak Prescott (607,621 votes) lead all players, including Tom Brady, who’s ranked third and nearly 100,000 votes behind Prescott. Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown and Oakland’s Derek Carr complete the top five. The full 88-man playoff fields will be announced on Dec. 20 in (of course) a primetime special on NFL Network.

Even though seeing moments like, say, Aaron Rodgers throwing to Julio Jones are a kick, the Pro Bowl isn’t nearly the thrill-a-minute star-fest the NFL would like us to believe it is. The games themselves are generally carefree affairs that make the NBA All-Star game look like a defensive lockdown. Players usually aren’t particularly thrilled about spending another week playing football, particularly if they’ve been out of playoff contention for several weeks (or, yes, months).

This year’s game will take place in Orlando on Jan. 29, the off-weekend before the Super Bowl. It’ll feature a return to the old AFC-vs.-NFC format after three years of playground-style picking.
