Costacurta offers Scudetto prediction and refers to Milan’s success: “Were not favourites”

With Serie A kicking off this weekend, Billy Costacurta has made a prediction for the upcoming season and referred to AC Milan’s Scudetto success in 2022.

After Milan’s failure to challenge for the Scudetto last year, or do much else for that matter, change was required on the touchline and the management decided it was time to move away from Stefano Pioli after five years.

In steps Paulo Fonseca, and the Portuguese manager has impressed the fans and the squad during pre-season and there is a wave of positivity surrounding the club, which is nice to see. However, there are still movements that must be made in the mercato for the team to be complete – which Fonseca admitted last night.

The goal for the Rossoneri is the Scudetto, and Alvaro Morata stated as much following the victory against Monza, but whether they will be able to challenge Inter remains to be seen, and a former player has suggested that it will be a struggle.

Of course, I don’t think it can repeat last year’s progress, but it’s not as if it has now become a rule that whoever has the Scudetto on their chest will do badly the following year. By the way, Milan and Napoli were not favourites after winning the championship…”
