Prompted by U.S. President Donald J. Trump's tweet on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Irish superstar Conor McGregor voiced his support for the controversial leader of the free world with a tweet of his own.

"Phenomenal President. Quite possibly the USA (greatest of all time). Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him. No easy feat. Early stages of term also. Incredible," McGregor wrote.

He then added, "Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day America."

McGregor is one of several fighters to publicly show their support for President Trump, joining the likes of Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. UFC president Dana White has long been a business associate and supporter of President Trump, whom he considers a friend.

President Trump returned the show of support to White by becoming the first sitting U.S. president to attend a mixed martial arts event, when he and his sons attended UFC 244 in New York last year.
