Always in pursuit of a worthy challenge, it appears that Conor McGregor is set to take his talents outside of the octagon.

The MMA superstar, who had recently become the first UFC fighter to simultaneously hold title belts in two different weight classes, has reportedly agreed to appear in ‘Game of Thrones,’ joining the cast for one of the HBO show’s two final seasons.

“He was headhunted, as it were, by HBO, as one of the ‘Game Of Thrones’ directors is a huge UFC fan,” a source shared with Belfast Live. “They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”

After he was reportedly stripped of his Featherweight title, McGregor appears to be looking at life beyond the octagon, taking a queue from fellow UFC superstar Ronda Rousey. The Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion has parlayed her MMA stardom into a successful acting career, with movie titles such as ‘The Expendables 3,’ ‘Furious 7’ and ‘Entourage’ under her belt.

With McGregor eyeing the bright lights of Hollywood, ‘Game of Thrones’ appears to make nothing but sense for the fighting Irishman. The hit show is often shooting scenes near the city of Dublin, McGregor’s hometown, and Conor already has some experience taking on the biggest bruisers on the ‘GoT’ roster.

They may just be sparring in the video below, but anyone who has the brass to stand toe-to-toe with Hafthor Julius Bjornsson – also known as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane – certainly has the fighting spirit to appear on ‘Game of Thrones.’
