1. CMS gives teachers a somber school supply: trauma kits for potential school shootings

Thousands of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teachers received Go Bags last week at the start of school. The bags, pictured here, say “More Prepared” on the yellow tag that accompanies them. They include medical equipment to treat wounds, including to stop bleeding, a doorstop and a glass-breaking tool.

School started last week and this year, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teachers received some different school supplies.

Trauma kits to help educators treat students if they’re stuck in a classroom during an active shooter or other violent situation were given to teachers. Over 11,000 bags were handed out in every full-time classroom.
