Claudia Gadelha Says She's Ready to Rematch Joanna Jedrzejczyk Whenever Champ is Healed

UFC president Dana White surprised everyone on Friday night when he announced that the women's bantamweight title fight between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Holly Holm would be taking over the headlining spot at UFC 193 on Nov. 14 at Ethiad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. The change came about due to welterweight champion Robbie Lawler falling out of the original headliner opposite Carlos Condit due to injury.

Another surprise was unleashed when White told MMAWeekly.com content partner Yahoo! Sports that he also wanted to move the strawweight title fight, which was slated to be the co-main event for Rousey vs. Holm at UFC 195, to the Melbourne card as well. The biggest part of that surprise, however, wasn't the possibility of a move, but the possibility of a change in opponent.

Now, however, he has two potential challengers that say they're ready to fight on a moment's notice.

Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk was slated to put her belt on the line against Claudia Gadelha on Jan. 3 at UFC 195, but when White mentioned that he'd also like to move that bout to Melbourne alongside Rousey vs. Holm, he told Yahoo's Kevin Iole that Jedrzejczyk's defense would likely be against Valerie Letourneau since Gadelha was recovering from an injury.

“I just have to rethink all of this,” White said. “There are a lot of ways we can go, but we'll make this a kick-ass event and we'll get back at it and figure out [UFC 195] and do the same thing with that.”

There has been speculation that Letourneau, who is coming off of a win over Maryna Moroz on Aug. 23, might not be ready in time for the Nov. 14 event either.

Late Saturday night, however, Gadelha and Letourneau both posted on Twitter, saying that each of them is ready to step in the cage with Jedrzejczyk.

“Guys, I'm not injured. I'm taking care of my finger that I hurt in my fight with Aguilar. That's it. I will be ready when Joanna is ready,” Gadelha tweeted.

Trying to keep her name in the thick of the conversation, Letourneau tweeted, “Trust me, if I have the opportunity to fight for a title shot tomorrow I will take it!”

Of course, neither of them would get a title shot in Melbourne if Jedrzejczyk's thumb hasn't healed in time for the Nov. 14 event. The champ underwent surgery on her thumb at the beginning of July and there's been little update as to the specific time that she will be ready to fight.
