>> Jennifer: welcome back. Shareholders of indigo today will vote on a deal which would privatize the company's ownership. >> Nick: the dealer to the company take their trilogy holdings inc. And trilogy investments lp. The company is owned by jerry schwartz ketlen holds over 50 percent of indigo shares already. He is also the spouse of indigo's founder and ceo heather reisman, holds almost 5 percent of the company's shares. >>> This is an interesting development here. Indigo has had its struggles recently, of course bookselling and they've diversified of course with offerings. It is interesting, there's a very obviously cozy relationship there between jerry schwartz who owns 50 percent of the stock already and the holding companies here. I guess try to iron out the details and see where it will go. We will find out today. >> Jennifer: be time a toronto company has developed a tool to judge whether an audio clip features a real human voice or one generated by ai. >> Nick: something we need more and more going forward. This is step at click health research. They say the method is based on vocal biomarkers. Those can include pauses when some he's speaking, takes a breath, or grasps for words which artificial intelligence generated audio doesn't do. I think we've factored that out pretty well. 80 percent success rate which are ai produced videos, audio clips or photos that look extremely real. >> Jennifer: what would be cool is I notice when I speak, a special when I interview people I have a nervous tick where I say like or you know a lot. You repeat some words. Crutches. I'm sure ai would be able to pick that out. >> Nick: ai could go to an archive of you or I speaking because so much of our show is online. They could find patterns in our voices or whatever. I suppose what this is doing is those patterns might just mimic our voice but they may not be able to mimic our live, and lived interview style of however we may speak. >> Jennifer: the human element. >> Nick: the way things flow. It is going to be more and more important as things go forward because the better these deep fakes get the more important it will be to somehow flag or identify that this is in fact fake. >> Jennifer: that nirvana pool cover, like with the baby in the swimming pool. The teddy bear. Okay thought it was just me. Meantime a massive debut for billie eilish's new album. >> Nick: let's take a listen. It is eilish versus swift at this point. >> Jennifer: both doing incredibly well. Paul has joined us from bnn bloomberg to give us kind of the top business story this morning. >> Nick: cryptocurrency. >> Nick: we talked about this last week. Still happening today. The price of ether is soaring. That is because of something that happened -- similar happening as to what happened to the bitcoin market earlier this year. That is the expected approval of etf's in the united states. That would purchase and hold ether. That increases the audience of investors for the cryptocurrency, it generates excitement. The price of ether today is very close to $3900 us. Ten days ago it was at $1000 less. The coin is increased by almost a third in the past week and a half or so. One of the big market stories. >> Nick: 20 seconds. Big week for banks. >> Paul: everyone except td bank results through the course of this week. Very important group of stocks pickle most everybody owns them one way or another. It big focus on the markets. >> Nick: we have seen the issues td has had recently. Here's a live shot of the school this morning. We will have more with courtney coming up. >> Nick: it appears the cost-of-living concerns across canada don't extend to our vacation plans. We will look at the latest and what a new study is saying about the numbers, it looks like it is time to hit the road. [ ] >> Nick: let's find out what's happening if you're taking this week off, trainer enjoy a few days before perhaps the kids get out of school and chill out a little bit. A long lake ontario this morning look at those waves breaking and crashing. What does that tell us about what the conditions we are expecting today, if it is an? >> Bill: breezy, absolutely the wave action. The windows are above ten kilometres per hour. And pearson 20. Out of the south probably a little breezier along the lakeshore because it is crossing lake ontario. Not the longest stretch but across from south to north still enough with nothing to slow it down to come on to the shore a little bit stronger than away for the water. Just a touch. Twenty kilometres per hour at billie bishop, 17 appears in. The temperatures pretty mild for this time of day. Normal daytime high just over 20. We won't move all that far though. Up to 23 with a lot of that coming on reget the breaks in the cloud deck late this afternoon pick for the time being focusing on this. This band of showers and thunderstorms moving back in around 8:30 until 9:00 and then to. Such right or turning a very unsettled conditions with storms to the north. Few showers are turning this evening and overnight. Tomorrow showery day. Wednesday it all changes, mid-day clear out and then sunshine for the remained of the week. Call of those details coming up. Lisa, over to you. >> Lisa: thank you billie. Since last check of the drive things have changed. Klum sure the drive through mississauga. Qew niagara bound past the west mall on approach to dixie we have a collision. Vehicle on its roof. We have a piece of the right lane off-limits. Nobody is on scene just as yet. I imagine once emergency crews arrived on scene we will likely see quite a file and restrictions impacting toronto bound side as well from hurontario. Give yourself extra drive time if that is your route of choice. Also came across a stalled tractor-trailer east 401 express heading through weston. Looks like it might be slowly trying to get out of the way nell. It was in the left lane. On the move now. Delays as far back as dixie. West 401 loading up mainly through midtown. Don valley parkway towards avenue, steeles west of 27. That was blocked for an earlier collision. Jen and nick, back to you. >> Jennifer: lisa thank you for that update.

>>> Pro-palestinian protesters camped out at the university of toronto for weeks will be holding a rally this morning in defiance of a trespass order issued by the school. >> Nick: the university says the protesters must clear the site by 8:00 this morning, but you can see in these live pictures no tense up you to be coming down. In fact,, organizer say they plan on holding a rally and hold their ground. A cupe in ontario federation of labour will be there in an effort to try to force the school to meet the protest groups demand. The two sides met yesterday afternoon. The protesters presented what they described as a counter offer calling on the school to disclose any public investments in companies profiting from israel's offensive in gaza. Statement from the u of t reads in part, if the encampments remains noncompliant with a trespass notice, we will be preceding to court to seek injunctive relief through an urgent hearing. >> Jennifer: meantime a rally was held in the beaches yesterday to demand the release of the remaining hostages being held by hamas. >> Nick: several people were joined by politicians and calling for the release of hostages taking place at kew-balmy beach. The rally also showed support for the local jewish community during the ongoing war. >> The yellow shirts are actually the colour of the hostages, the awareness colour that the hostage families forms chose. If you ever see on the streets of toronto somebody wearing a yellow ribbon like that, that is a hostage awareness pin. Yellow is the colour being used. >> I think a lot of people forget that there are real human connections that are still 125 hostages being held in captivity against their will. Karen disconnect unspeakable atrocities have taken place. And those are brothers and sisters, fathers, husbands, wives. They are real people. Amidst all of the chaos and politics of this, those people can't be. >> Nick: according to israeli officials there still about 125 hostages being held in gaza. >> Jennifer: the mayor and chief of police are expected to show their support at a north york jewish girls school this morning that was hit by gunfire over the weekend. >> Nick: let's check and live with cbt when he forced courtney heels live outside of the school near dufferin and finch enjoys a slide with more. When is all of this expected to get underway? >> Reporter: we understand around 8:00 is what we are hearing. The mayor will be arriving along with toronto police chief myron demkiw. I do want to note we have been here for much of the morning and it has been quiet. There was a police crews are stationed just outside of this jewish elementary school first thing. Now there are several police cruisers outside of the school. Also committee officers. Private security. We heard from toronto police saying given the investigation with shots fired torsiello matches go behind me they would be increasing their police presence. With students showing up, like a little bit later on because it is still pretty early, they will see there is this really significant police presence. We will bring you back to the weekend when it all started. Police were called to the north york jewish elementary school early saturday at about 5:00 am over reports of shots fired at this school. What we heard, they say police found evidence of gunfire. They also reported no injuries. Police were asked at the time if it was considered a hate crime and they said it was too early to determine that. Obviously given the opportunity to talk with the chief, we will see if there's anything else to suggest they are considering now this hate crime. We can also tell you that the mayor weighing in on what happened over the weekend. Mayor chow taking to social media saying this was a despicable antisemetic act. She is going to be here along with many others as part of solidarity gathering. This is going to try to support the students and staff arriving at this school later on this morning. Of course also supporting the jewish community. Kafias lede they are feeling very concerned have been what has happened over the weekend. Again, it is still quite early but I have noticed just in the last little while. You can see behind me here, several police officers are in cruisers set up behind me here. The chief will be here soon along with the mayor of course when that happens, we will let you know and hoping to also get a sense of perhaps where they are in this ongoing investigation that they are taking very seriously. Over due. >> Jennifer: cp24's court reporting live this morning. Thank you.

This is interesting because despite the economic strains we are dealing with currently, what are the travel predictions for canadians coming up this summer. >> Reporter: you know what nick and jen, 30 percent of canadians say they have already booked their plans. Interestingly enough even though we are in some tough economic times, 77 percent according to a survey from deloitte canada, 77 percent of canadians say they are going to spend more on their vacations this year. Whether that be to catch up with family and friends, across something up their bucket list. Just get time off the grid may be. What it comes to people in our part of the country, for example,, central canada, ontario and québec are the two top travel destinations on the radar this summer for canadians who will be spending possibly a little bit more when they stay closer to home the summer. >> Jennifer: interesting, tony. And where our canadians headed for summer holidays? >> Reporter: pei is a standout because that is the province that is expecting more visitors from outside of their overall region, by that I mean more than anywhere else. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of 80 percent or more of visitors to pei this summer expected to be from outside of atlantic canada. By the way when it comes to what we are spending, average of $2400 on the summer getaway this year, with, let's break it down by generation, gen x planning to spend the most on summer travel. They have an 80 percent success rate when they try to identify deep fakes, which rai produced videos, audio clips or photos that look extremely real. >> Nick: this will become more and more relevant as ai gets sort of better and better. Let's hope these biomarker tests also get better too.

>>> In the meantime, let's talk sports and let's hope the jays turn things around in this next series taking on the chicago white sox today after losing their four-game series to the detroit tigers. >> The 3-2. Flyball, leftfield. This game is over. >> Jennifer: it was such a shame because their bats were finally booming. Yesterday's game saw jordan remodel give up a three run homer in the ninth-inning in the jays 14-11 laws. The 11 runs is the most the jays have scored in a game all season long. They trailed by five entering the fourth inning before mounting a comeback that ultimately fell short. The jays lose the series and have dropped three straight games. Their game in chicago get started today just after 2:00 pm >> Nick: of course memorial day south of the border. The 2:00 start. >>> Let's talk hockey. The first indian director and first female director ever to not only screen at khan, but when the second most prestigious award at the film festival, which is the grand prix by the way. All we imagine as light just won the grand prix, as I mentioned. It was nominated in 4 other major categories. And so they received the award from violet davis. She was also joined by the entire cast cake including -- this is the first indian film in 30 years to first of all ever be even nominated in this major category, and then to go on and actually win. Or documentary also won the goldeneye award in 2021, but that was a documentary. But this in itself, that was the goldeneye. Of course every award counts. The grand prix is 1 of the most prestigious. It is huge. She did receive an 8 minute standing ovation. And I know that a lot of films at khan get a lot of standing ovations. But usually it is like hollywood that get the ovations. A film like this has never seen a standing ovation like this before. Watch out for this name. That is the entire cast. I get so emotional looking at those 4 beautiful south asian women. Some of them wearing their saris with so much pride. At the film festival, this is huge for india. Huge moment. A really hope it comes to tiff. I am telling each queen need to chase this. >> Nick: what are the chances of that? Is it likely tiff would be shopping around for movie likes that to bring it here? How does that work? >> Other film festivals that happened before tiff, usually

there's a bit of an indication that we might get to actually see some of those films arrive. Not all of them come, but you get a sense of what the other film festivals are doing. It really depends on what the programmer and what they would want to carry. >> The programmer. So camera. Hopefully you're listening. Bring this movie. >>> It wasn't the best memorial day weekend or film. Furiosa takes top spot in the disappointing memorial day office. Here's the thing though. That was the ordeal because here's the thing, the mad-mac's
