crushes one off yusei kikuchi. That's going to make it 5-nothing as kikuchi is done after three innings. Cavan biggio lifts one deep and gone, that's a two-run shot and the blue jays have a little life. They trail 5-2. Top of the 6th, it's now 8-4. Vladimir guerrero Jr. With an rbi single, vlady goes 4-5 on the day and raises his batting average to .302 in the season. But bottom half, matt vierling tears this one over the wall for another home run for detroit. They lead 9-5. But the jays have an answer. Bo bichette gets a base knock, two runs score and the jays are within one. After justin turner drew a walk, two on for daulton varsho and blasts a three-run homer and that gives the blue jays their first lead of the game. They come all the way back to lead 11-9, bottom 8th, yimi garcia, 0.47 E.R.A. this season, trying to hold the lead. But after giving up back to back hits to put the tying runs on base, mark qana delivers the 2- 2-run single. Bottom of the 9th, romano has to face vierling and he walks it off with his second home run of the game. The blue jays score a season high 11 runs on 14 hits but they allow a season high 14 runs on 17 hits to lose their third straight game, 14-11 the final. >> Love the effort from the guys, you know. We had traffic out there all day. Really good approach against mise. Chipped away, came back, huge hits from bo, from varsh, izzy, cav, vlady with 4. There's so many good things that happened offensively, yeah, over allfrustrating series. I like what we're doing. We're trending in the right direction offensively and vlady is pretty locked in right now, which is a good thing. Hopefully that keeps rolling and again, we're going to need our starters and our bullpen to be as advertised, really, you know, but I like the way the offense is going for sure. >> Bronze medal game at the world championship, canada taking on sweden, second period. Mark McCALLISTER looks at the transition to sankofa square and who will be paying for it. >> Reporter: it's a sudden move many of the tourists may not be aware of, but the yonge-dundas square name is no longer on top of the pillars behind me. A controversial move for those people that live here to give this space a brand new identity. >> Over the last few years as these council decisions have wound their way through the system, I continue to hear from people that are very upset with this change. >> Reporter: the faded outline of what had been the identifier for toronto's central square is all that remains after the lettering was removed earlier this month. Only a couple of small yonge-dundas indicators remain as the transformation to sankofa square takes place. >> I'm sure we have better things to spend our money on and worry about than. It's trivial. >> I still call skydome skydome, maple leaf gardens, maple leafs guarding. >> Reporter: the sankofa came after a committee studied options to replace dundas. An initial council decision to change the name of the entire street was scaled back due to cost. >> It shouldn't be lost that the renaming of the square could end up costing the city and taxpayers a lot of money to run the square in the future. >> Reporter: the price tag for the design, fabrication and installation of new signage is expected to cost between 105 and $200,000, money the mayor says doesn't come from the taxpayer. >> So yes, it costs I think something like -- $10104,000 bucks to change the name of the square with the sign, but all of it is paid for by owners of the buildings around it. >> Reporter: the process began after a petition pointed out that henry dundas was involved in delaying the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade. Sankofa, meanwhile, originates in ghana and represents the act of reflecting on and reclaiming teachings from the past. >> I think it's fine, yeah, change is good. Because of the past reputation, I think we need to move forward. >> Reporter: expect the rebranding and the marketing campaign a communication to try and convince people of the name change around the same time the new sankofa square signs go up by the end of the year. Mark McCALLISTER, citynews. >> Brandon: an intergenerational pilot project at an assisted living centre is bringing seniors and students together in calgary. Once accepted? >> They will be providing us with 30 hours of volunteer time every month. So they'll actually be participating in our programming going forward. >> Reporter: shannon is one of the two students accepted in to this pilot project. >> Yeah, you know, I think this relationship will be like a friendship and just making new friends and really getting to know them and hopefully when the project is over, we still have a connection and maybe I can still live here after. I'm not sure. >> There's been some criticism about programs like this, one of them is what about affordability for seniors. Your response >> We're not taking any rooms away from seniors at all. These rooms are vacancies that are persistent in the seniors' residences. >> Reporter: so fiscally, this makes sentences >> Fiscally, it absolutely makes sense, right. It assures, you know, a tenant for the next eight months plus the programming with the residents and plus affordable student housing. >> Reporter: so how do current residents feel about sharing the facility with students? >> I'm fine because they add a little to us, making us feel a bit younger. >> I can kind of relate to them if they let me know how things are for them now, and I can remember when I was that age. >> And I see this as a future model, maybe for other buildings that we have. So this pilot will be really
