Cincinnati's national title odds, Desmond Ridder's Heisman odds make big move after Notre Dame win

Cincinnati had a huge weekend by going into Notre Dame Stadium and winning.

The Bearcats moved up to No. 5 in the AP poll and all but assured they will be in the College Football Playoff conversation as long as they keep winning games.

In the win, senior quarterback Desmond Ridder made several key plays. He threw for 297 yards and two touchdowns, but his best throw of the day was a 36-yard strike up the seam to tight end Leonard Taylor late in the fourth quarter. Two plays later, Ridder scored on a six-yard run to seal the triumphant victory for Cincinnati.

On the heels of that performance, Ridder has made a pretty significant move in the Heisman Trophy odds. Though there’s still a big gap between Ridder and the two favorites, Ridder now has the third-highest Heisman odds at +1400 at BetMGM. For the season, Ridder has thrown for 1,045 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 98 yards and three more scores.

Not only did Ridder rise in the Heisman odds, Cincinnati is moving up in the national championship odds. Entering the Notre Dame game, the Bearcats were listed at +4000 to win it all. As of Monday morning, Cincinnati is listed at +2000 behind Alabama (+150), Georgia (+175), Ohio State (+1000) and Oklahoma (+1400).

Heisman odds: Ridder behind Bryce Young, Matt Corral

In the Heisman odds at BetMGM, Ridder is behind two SEC quarterbacks who squared off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa: Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ole Miss’ Matt Corral. Corral was the betting favorite the last two weeks, but Young surpassed him following a dominant 42-21 Alabama victory.

Young, who threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns in the win, moved up to +125. Corral dropped down to +250. Corral threw for 213 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 10-yard rushing score.

Next in the Heisman odds is Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud, who threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Rutgers.

Several running backs are working their way into the mix as well. Texas sophomore Bijan Robinson is up to +3000 after rushing for 216 yards in a win over TCU. Ohio State freshman TreVeyon Henderson is next at +3500, tied with another Big Ten running back — Kenneth Walker III of Michigan State.

Who's rising, falling in national championship odds?

Other than Cincinnati’s jump from +4000 to +2000, there were a few other significant movers in the national championship odds at BetMGM.

Oregon, following its overtime loss to Stanford, fell from +1200 down to +5000. Michigan, after beating Wisconsin to improve to 5-0, moved from +6600 up to +3000. Another Big Ten team, Iowa, went from +5000 to +3500 after a blowout victory over Maryland.

Both Michigan and Iowa are behind Penn State, which stayed at +2500 after shutting out Indiana at home. Penn State and Iowa will meet in Iowa City this weekend.

After their respective losses, Notre Dame and Ole Miss both dropped to +8000. Notre Dame was listed at +3000 last week. Ole Miss was +4000.
