Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen was able to celebrate a notable national milestone on Saturday.

The 25-year-old's goal in the 3-2 win at West Ham made him the highest-scoring Dane in the Premier League - overtaking none other than former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner.

Eriksen, who has now scored 33 league goals since he joined from Ajax in 2013, told Spurs TV: "Of course I'm very happy I'm above Bendtner now.

"I've moved him to the side and of course it's not the last goal."

Two goals from Harry Kane before half-time put Spurs in the driving seat, and they looked home and hosed when Eriksen drilled in the third.

But Javier Hernandez pulled one back after 65 minutes, and Spurs right-back Serge Aurier was sent off before Cheikhou Kouyate halved the deficit with three minutes remaining.

However, Tottenham held on to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.

"It looks easy when you are 3-0 up but when you have 10 men and they score they get a lot of confidence," added Eriksen.

"They want to go forward, they have the eagerness to win the second ball, more than we did at some times.

"It was a difficult game and we made it difficult."

Defeat brought an end to West Ham's recent revival, having previously been unbeaten for three games and kept three clean sheets.

A visit from Swansea is up next and midfielder Kouyate told the club website: "Swansea have a good team, but we need some points.

"We need to forget the start of this season because it has not been good. Hopefully next week will not be the same."
