Chris Smalling receives few offers due to elevated salary

English defender Chris Smalling is one of the players linked with an exit from the Italian capital.

The veteran centreback’s time at Roma seems to be nearing its end as Daniele De Rossi does not consider him an important player in his rotations.

According to Il Tempo, Roma have been searching for convincing offers for Smalling for several weeks now, but to no avail.

The newspaper claims that Smalling has only drawn a handful of offers that do not satisfy his needs.

The main obstacle lies in the defender’s salary which continues to scare off many interested clubs.
