Chris Johnson joins the Jets on two-year deal

Veteran free agent running back Chris Johnson has joined the New York Jets on a two-year contract, according to ESPN.

Johnson visited the Jets on Tuesday.

Johnson was recently cut by the Titans after efforts to trade him were unsuccessful.

Johnson was due an $8 million base salary.

The Titans signed Johnson to a four-year, $53.5 million contract in 2011.

However, he hasn't had the same type of success since signing the deal.

Johnson has rushed for 7,965 yards and 50 touchdowns since being drafted by the Titans in the first round in 2008 out of East Carolina.
