In the early morning of April 8, Copeland, in his third NBA season and playing for the Indiana Pacers, was stabbed outside of a New York nightclub following an argument, ending the 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward's season. The Pacers were in town to play the Knicks that evening. Copeland underwent surgery for injuries to his left elbow and abdomen, and apologized for being involved in the incident in a statement afterward.
