There are a number of Chelsea fringe players who now need to be ready to play at any time after the latest comments from Enzo Maresca.

The comments came after he saw his side beat Heidenheim 2-0 away from home in Germany last night in their latest Europa League Conference game.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea stepping up pursuit of Premier League striker – not Evan Ferguson!

It wasn’t exactly a vintage Chelsea performance, but it was Maresca’s ‘B-Team’ that started the game as they always do in cup competitions. Maresca and Chelsea are in a fortunate place that they can name two completely different starting lineups for both the league and cup competitions.

And that second string side is actually not bad at all.

Chelsea boss Maresca admitted that chances could be on the horizon for his team usually reserved for football outside of the Premier League.

“Filip did a very good game, Christo [Nkunku] the same,” he said following the game. “We have a game on Sunday and then on Wednesday. We have nine or 10 games in December, so it is more or less a game every two or three days. They are going to get chances so they need to be ready.”

Who could get chances?

Nkunku was good last night

Well, Maresca already mentioned Filip Jorgensen, who literally won them the game last night, and Christopher Nkunku, who scored the opening goal for The Blues.

But there is also Joao Felix, who didn’t start last night and that could indicate he might get another start on Sunday in the league against Aston Villa. Jadon Sancho was superb last night and is knocking on the door. Mykhailo Mudryk scored a good goal last night. And Renato Veiga was very good too.

They all need to be ‘ready’ to play at any time as Maresca says, because they are all doing good things that could earn them the nod soon.
