Come on out and get ready to haul, y'all! I'm here to take you to Pointy Peak Station. Hiya, Farmer Faye! Howdy, May! Heya, Clay. I hear we've got some pretty excited animals who want to see some snow at the top of Pointy Peak. Let me hear a yay! [both] Yay! Hot diggity! Then step right up and we'll be at the snow in two shakes of a piggy's tail. [bouncing, shaking] Thanks for taking us to Pointy Peak Station, Faye. The critters have never seen snow before, so they're mighty excited about going. They've been a-squawkin' and a-mooin' about it all day. [pigs snorting] [May] And a-oinkin' too! Everyone's loaded and ready. [Faye] Then let's get rolling. -[creaking] -Clickety-clack! What in the world's that?! [creaking] It sounds worse than a duck in a bathtub. Oh, no. The animal car train hitch isn't working. [Faye] Sorry, everyone. I can't pull my animal car if the hitch is broken, and it might take all day to fix. Come on, back to the barn with ya. Looks like we're not going to the snow or anywhere else today. It just breaks my boxcar to see those sad faces. There must be something I can do. Don't feel bad, Faye. It's not your fault. Hold your horses. There is something! I just need a little help from Brock and his backhoe. -Y'all sit tight now. Be back in a jiffy! -[train bell dings] Build-It Brock scoops it best! Dumper car's full, Faye. [laughing] Thanks for helping, Brock. All this snow's gonna get some tails waggin' -when they see what we've got for 'em. -[train bell dings] I know you're feeling super sad about not getting to see the snow today, but Faye will come up with something. -I don't know what yet, but... -[train horn honks] Tarnation! It's a Frozen Farm Winter Wonderland! Well, what are you waiting for? That's snow's not gonna get any snowier! Time for some fun! [bleats] [quacks] [bouncing] [clucking] [angelic music] -Yeah! -[giggling] -[Clay] Yee-haw! -I knew we could count on you, Faye! -And you too, Brock. -[laughs] This is the best snow day ever! And we're not done yet. [squeals] Hoo-wee, Faye! [May] Those critters are happier than a grasshopper on a pogo stick! [Clay] I bet they've never had snow much fun before! [laughter] I am so excited to see you, Nico. I'm excited to see you too, Gary. So you're pretty good at boccia, aren't you? Yeah, pretty good. Are you good at anything else? I go skiing. Ski in the winter. Really? Do you go fast? Very fast. Whoa, that is amazing. I have an electric chair that I drive around at school. -Really? -Yeah. That's -- do you ever give your friends a lift to classes? [he laughs] No, not really. But that would be kind of fun. Sometimes at like school and stuff, it's hard for other people to relate to me. So if somebody said, "Hey, Nico, can I ask you about, about your chair" or something like that, would that be OK? Yeah, that'd be fine.

Oh, see then that's-that's- that's so important to know, you know, because sometimes you don't know what to ask. And I'm really glad that you told me. What do you wish that people would know about having a disability? That it doesn't matter if you have a disability, you can still do everything an able bodied person could do. Hey, Nico, I am so glad that you're here today. I'm glad to be here. So happy, and I was wondering if I could come give you a hug. Yeah. [sigh]That's so nice. Wow, have you ever huggeda unicorn before, Nico? No, I have not -ever hugged a unicorn before.-Well, now you have. True enough. My pal, Nico. [upbeat] [bird chirps] Announcer: CBC Kids. Meet Daisy, she's got a way of makingbeautiful things You never know what naturewill teach her or what inspirationwill bring DIY, DIY Daisy What are we making today? DIY, DIY Daisy I bet we'll makesomething great -Hi, Gumboot Kids! -[Gumboot Kids] Hi Daisy! -I was so excited this morning when I woke up and found the tulips in my garden had bloomed. I so love tulips. All those beautiful colours have inspired me to make a nature craft. Would you like to make some tissue paper tulips with me, Gumboot Kids? -[Gumboot Kids] Yeah! -Step one. Let's look at some tulips. Notice their colours, the shape of their petals and their green stems. Aren't they just so beautiful and delicate? Now, collect your craft supplies. You'll need some coloured tissue paper, egg cartons, paint, glue and a stick or a wooden dowel rod. Stem number 2. Cut out a cup from an egg carton. Next, paint your egg cup. This will become the centre of your flower. Use black paint for the inside of the tulips. This is the flower's stamen. -I'm making mine yellow. -I'm gonna paint the inside black. Just like the tulips we saw. -Now, cut some petal shapes out of tissue paper. -I'm gonna make mine pink. -I love that shade of purple you're using. -Alright, now glue your petals around your egg cup. You can use a paint brush to brush on the glue. -I'm gonna use pink and red for mine. -I'm gonna use yellow. -That colour always makes me happy. -I used pink and purple. My favourite colours. -Lovely, Gumboot Kids. Remember, there's no right or wrong way to make a nature craft. Now, step three. Paint your wooden dowels green. This will be your flower stem. -This is so fun. I love painting. -When the paint is dry, poke the stick through the bottom of the egg cup to complete your flower. -Ta-da! -Alright, kids, lets see what you've made. [laughing] Wow, Gumboot Kids, your tulips are so colourful. Look, I made some too. You know, one of the best things about our tissue paper tulips is that you can enjoy them all year round. See ya next time, Gumboot Kids! -[Gumboot Kids] Good bye, Daisy! DIY, DIY Daisy What are we making today? Oh, Hi there Gumboot Kids! Let's run around... Come on make some noise... We'll play outside... Solve some of nature's, Magical Mysteries. We're living, loving, life's adventures Oh yeah that's how it is. SCOUT: Come on! When you're a Gumboot Kid... There. And from these small seeds, a mighty veggie garden will grow! Oh, hi there, Gumboot Kids! I've just finished planting my veggie seeds. Now all they need to grow is some sunshine, rain, and the help of some wiggly workers. What's a wiggly worker and what is it doing in my dirt? Well, that's today's Nature Mystery. The Case of the Wiggly Worker. Let's check out my Field Notes, for three clues to help you solve the mystery. Clue number one. KIDS: Garden! (kids giggling) KIDS: There's a garden! SCOUT: Righteo, you found a garden filled with crumbly soil. The best kind for planting. (joyful laughter) (chuckles) Now, clue number two. KIDS: Shovel! KIDS: Look! Garden tools! KIDS: That's a shovel! SCOUT: I'm digging this, Gumboot Kids! (chuckles) Clue number three. KIDS: Hole! SCOUT: How clever, Gumboot Kids. You couldn't find a hole, so you dug one! Okay, let's review the clues and solve the mystery. You found a garden, then used the shovel to dig a hole. So where is the wiggly worker? KIDS: I don't see a wiggly worker. SCOUT: Look closer at the soil you dug up. KIDS: Look, an earthworm! SCOUT: That's it! You found an earthworm! But why is he called a "wiggly worker"? KIDS: Hmm... KIDS: Because worms wiggle and work in the dirt! SCOUT: That's right! Earthworms are good for the garden. When they dig, they let air into the soil, break it down and release nutrients. The Earthworms are the wiggly workers that help a garden grow! KIDS: We did it! Case closed, yay! SCOUT: Way to go! (chuckle) Now let's pause and have a mindful moment. Earthworms are very important to our ecosystem. Without earthworms, the earth's soil would be too compact, making it almost impossible to grow anything! Their hard work helps the garden grow, giving us food to eat. So let's be grateful, and gentle, to these wiggly, working worms. Can you dig it? We can dig it!
