Chase Claypool becomes Canucks legend after roasting Flames, chugging beer

Canucks fan and Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Chase Claypool had a litttle fun at the Flames' expense Thursday night.

Typical trash talk can hurt, but when it comes from a professional athlete at the top of their game, it stings a little bit more.

As the Vancouver Canucks were in the midst of laying an abnormal 7-1 beatdown on the Calgary Flames Thursday night, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and Abbotsford, B.C., native Chase Claypool joined in on the fun.

"7-0 is a touchdown score and I just wanted to say, the Calgary Flames suck so bad,” Claypool said to the crowd of 18,857 at Rogers Arena.

That, of course, was received by a hearty helping of cheers from the Vancouver faithful, who then proceeded to come together and have a loud “Calgary sucks” chant.

Other than chirping the visitors, the 23-year-old who just finished his second year playing in the NFL with 59 receptions, 860 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 15 games, appeared to be having an absolute blast.

And what Canucks fan wouldn’t take full advantage of handing one of your rivals the biggest loss of their season so far? Especially when the Canucks are once again absent from the playoff picture and the Flames, who had won 10 straight coming in, sit on top of the Pacific division.

Possible trade candidate J.T. Miller finished the game with two goals and two assists, bringing his season total to 20 goals and 57 points, leading the Canucks in both categories.

While this win doesn’t help the path to a better draft pick, it no doubt must feel good for Canucks fans, who are also now big Claypool fans.
