Charlotte police charge teen with murder in November Druid Hills shooting

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a 14-year-old Friday for the November shooting death of a 21-year-old.

The teen is charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, the department said in a news release Wednesday.

It is unclear if the teen is a boy or girl. CMPD says it’s not releasing that information at this time. They have been transported to a juvenile detention center to await a hearing, police officials said.

The teen is accused of shooting and killing Quantarrius Sturdivant, who was found dead just after 12:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in the 2300 block of Rachel Street in Charlotte’s Druid Hills neighborhood.

In November, police responded to the area after receiving 911 calls about a shooting. They found Sturdivant suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CMPD. Further details weren’t released.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective. The public can also leave information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or http://charlottecrimestoppers.com/.
